I.
Acceptance
By using The Counsel you agree to these terms. If you use it on behalf of an organisation, you confirm you have authority to bind that organisation.
II.
The service
The Counsel provides AI-assisted review, drafting and research tools for England & Wales legal documents. Features, limits and availability may change. Hosted analysis is subject to fair-use quotas; you may also use your own provider API key.
III.
No legal advice
Output is generated by AI models and must be reviewed by a qualified person before you rely on it. We make no warranty that output is accurate, current, complete, or fit for a particular purpose. Nothing in the service is a substitute for professional legal advice, and the jurisdiction is limited to England & Wales.
IV.
Your responsibilities
- Only upload documents you are entitled to process, and don’t submit others’ personal data without a lawful basis.
- Don’t use the service unlawfully, to infringe rights, or to attempt to disrupt or abuse it.
- Keep your account credentials secure; you are responsible for activity under your account.
V.
Your content & intellectual property
You keep all rights in the documents you submit and the outputs generated for you. You grant us a limited licence to process your content solely to provide the service. We do not use your documents to train AI models. The software is source-available under the FSL-1.1 licence; the brand and site content remain ours.
VI.
Accounts & termination
You may delete your account and data at any time from your settings. We may suspend or end access for breach of these terms or to protect the service.
VII.
Liability
To the extent permitted by law, we are not liable for any loss arising from reliance on AI-generated output, and our total liability is limited to the fees you paid in the 12 months before the claim. Nothing here excludes liability that cannot lawfully be excluded.
VIII.
Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of England & Wales, and the courts of England & Wales have exclusive jurisdiction. Questions: hello@the-counsel.co.uk.
